Founded by Rory Magee in Somerset West, Wootware began as a hobby fueled by a love for technology and a desire to make a difference. With just an idea and a R50,000 inheritance, Rory hired our first team member and started operating from his father’s house-packing orders on a dressing room table!
Fast forward to today, we’ve grown organically into a thriving company with a dedicated team and an impressive 43% compound annual growth rate over the past decade. What’s in a Name?
The name Wootware embodies our spirit. “Woot” originated as a hacker term for root (administrative) access and coincides with “w00t,” a gamer’s exclamation of joy meaning “Wow, loot!” It’s an expression of elation, and that’s the feeling we strive to deliver with every interaction.
