Insane power to Efficiency
If you want a fast cpu that sips power this cpu is for you. I am using a Gigabyte B760M Gaming DDR4 motherboard with this cpu and all I can say that combo is worth it. You can even pair your old ram(if it is compatible with the motherboard) if you want to. I have a Kingston Fury Beast 4X8GB DDR4 3200MHz CL16 ram and the intel xmp profile works really well and resizable bar was extremely easy to enable on that motherboard. I paired this cpu with my Zotac RTX 3050 Twin Edge OC 8GB GDDR6 I got back in the day(2 years ago) and I can fully use pcie gen 4 and get 0% bottlenecking even in cs 2 and dota 2. The power consumption on the I5 12400F while idle is 2.4W-4.8W of power. During gaming its on 30% load at 15-22W of power, at 50% usage uses 33W of power and to 77% usage uses 43-45W of power. On 100% load in CPU-Z the maximum power draw I have seen was 56W of power usage. I haven't tested Davinci Resolve. I mean come on, 56W under 100% cpu usage. It can spike up higher if you use things like video editing but for gaming and normal usage its low power sipping. By the way when the cpu is idling it only clocks at 0.85GHz since nothing is running in the background. I am also using an ID-Cooling FrostFlow X 280 and max temps are 45C in a 23/24C temperature room. The 280mm cpu liquid cooler is overkill for this cpu. Just pair this with a cpu aftermarket cooler like ID-Cooling FROZN A620 PRO or an DeepCool R-AK400-BKNNMD-G-1 AK400. You can't go wrong with cooling on this cpu. I am getting in cs2 in 1080p comp settings(low settings preset without FSR) I get 250-300fps(with a 89-100% gpu usage, I am also using nvidia reflex that is on). Dota 2 on 1080p comp settings(low but with high textures and high shadow quality) 175-230 fps. If you pair it with a DDR5 motherboard and DDR5 ram you can get a bit more performance out on the ram speed intensive games. I highly recommend this I5 12400F and if you want DDR4 then pair this with a Gigabyte B760M Gaming DDR4 motherboard. You can't go wrong with this cpu. It's too good of a price. It performs the same as the 5600X and is cheaper than the 5600X and also performs better than a Ryzen 5 5600. So this cpu gets a golden sticker of approval. Enjoy what this cpu has to offer. I got the I5 12400F and Gigabyte B760M Gaming DDR4 motherboard for R5498 before shipping cost(that also includes tax).

Price to preformance
What an excellent cpu, for its price its great being on par or sometimes better than its amd competition(Ryzen 5 5600). It can get a little hot with the stock cooler, but with a cheap aftermarket cooler and LGA 1700 bend corrector frame on max load it doesn't push 50c.

An effective 4Ghz baseline
I know there is a lot of apprehension with buying LGA1700 in 2024; but by buying this at this price point leaves you with an upgrade path to the i7 or i9 offerings in the 13th and 14th gen despite the platform being "dead." I would highly recommend this CPU as a great option for gaming and productivity; I use this for software development and have enjoyed an effective 4Ghz baseline speeds; it boosts admirably and punches above its weight. Definitely consider this.

Awesome CPU
This is a great CPU for Medium to High gaming, I paired this with a RX 6700 and 16 gigs of RAM, and it never goes over 60° on load (with the stock cooler)
